Welcome to the Blue Hills Rare Breed Stud website.

Blue Hills is a foundation member of The Goose Breeders Network of Australia.  This network is for the promotion and preservation of geese here in Australia and around the world.  The organisation is privileged to have Dr Harry Cooper as our Patron. Anyone interested in the breeding, showing & perpetuating the various breeds of geese in Australia is invited to join a number of like minded individuals.

Our major sponsor is The Pet Directory who support us in many ways including the website design and maintenance of our various websites to promote and save rare breeds of domestic livestock.  The Pet Directory is known as the "Who's Who" of the Australian Pet Industry

The purpose of this website is to provide information and photos of a wide range of breeds of chooks, ducks, geese, turkeys, and other game birds.  Currently Blue Hills Stud has over 160 rare breeds, variety, and colour of poultry and continues to expand.  NB the floods in Queensland have greatly reduced our flocks and herds from this number prior to the floods.  On this site you will find most of the breeds we keep.  We are slowly updating this site weekly.  If you have an enquiry about any particular breed please don't hesitate to contact us.  Beside the breeds that Blue Hills keeps we also work closely with other poultry and rare studs around Australia.

Rare Chicken Rescue won the award for Best Sound in a documentary at the AFI Awards!

Mark Tully from Blue Hills was the focus of the documentary shown on ABC TV and made into a DVD.  You can enter to win a copy of the DVD.

Please help us!

We need a hand!  If you can help us to rebuild it would be a favour to us and also greatly contribute to saving rare breeds of fowl and other domestic livestock.  Please phone Mark on 0433 179 844 if you would like to offer physical or financial assistance.

or you can click here to purchase a $50 'Help save the rare breeds pack!' This will help us to rebuild fences and enclosures.  We have lots of volunteers but we need materials to rebuild.  Any help you can give us will help save rare breeds.

15/1/11

Once we got back to see the damage we found that we had not lost all the rare breeds.  We did lose over 50% of them however.  Now to pick up the pieces.  We need help with rebuilding.

11/1/11

The Tully Family wishes to advise that we are safe.  Our property has gone under water at Helidon and we have lost all our dear animal friends.  We offer our sorrows and condolences to our fellow neighbours and friends strugglling with this historic tragedy.

We encourage everyone to save rare breeds.
This tragedy shows just how important it is to keep working towards the preservation of rare breeds.
